Job title: Consultant Gastroenterologist

Location:  United Kingdom, Wiltshire 

Job / Company description:

One of the NHS foundation trusts is seeking to appoint a Consultant Gastroenterologist.  A sub-specialist interest in ERCP is desirable, but not essential.

This hospital provide care for a wide range of Gastro Intestinal conditions ranging from functional bowel disorders to more complex organic disease such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Gastro Intestinal cancers.

The Trust have access to the latest diagnostic tests and work closely with colleagues in Radiology and Histopathology.

They provide both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including:

  • Gastroscopy (a test to look inside the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum)
  • Colonoscopy (a test to assess your colon)
  • ERCP (a procedure that uses an endoscope and x-rays to look at the bile duct and pancreatic duct)

The hospital is also a recognised screening centre for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP). 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • GMC Specialist Register - Ideal
  • Have substantial consultant level experience
  • A sub-specialist interest in ERCP is desirable, but not essential.
  • Teaching and training of post/undergraduate medical staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to communicate sensitively with patients, relatives and staff.
